IBIIndex-Based Built-Up Index

UrbanMultispectralCitation Rank #82

Summary

The Index-Based Built-Up Index (IBI) is a urban spectral index intended for multispectral sensing. It was introduced in 2008; its source is cited as H. Xu (2008). A new index for delineating built‐up land features in satellite imagery. International Journal of Remote Sensing, 29(14). https://doi.org/10.1080/01431160802039957 .

Based on the latest citation data, this index is in the 74.12th percentile overall, ranking 82 out of 313 indices with citation data. Among the 34 indices published within two years of 2008, it ranks 9 (76.47th percentile). Within the urban application domain, it is in the 94.74th percentile and ranks 2 out of 19 indices with citation data. Among the 6 similarly aged urban indices, it ranks 1 (100th percentile).
