NDVI4RE4-band Red Edge Normalized Difference Vegetation Index

VegetationMultispectralCitation Rank #284

Summary

The 4-band Red Edge Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI4RE) is a vegetation spectral index intended for multispectral sensing. It was introduced in 2022; its source is cited as Jiali Liu, Jianrong Fan, Chao Yang, Fubao Xu, & Xiyu Zhang (2022). Novel vegetation indices for estimating photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic fractional vegetation cover from Sentinel data. International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, 109. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jag.2022.102793 .

Based on the latest citation data, this index is in the 10.22th percentile overall, ranking 284 out of 313 indices with citation data. Among the 50 indices published within two years of 2022, it ranks 35 (36th percentile). Within the vegetation application domain, it is in the 9.95th percentile and ranks 192 out of 211 indices with citation data. Among the 31 similarly aged vegetation indices, it ranks 19 (45.16th percentile).
